Roadwhisper ("the app") is an AI-powered audio tour guide for Android. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights.
The app uses your device's GPS location to find nearby points of interest and generate audio stories about them. To provide this service, your approximate device coordinates are sent to our server, which queries OpenStreetMap for nearby places and caches the results to improve performance.
Location data is used solely to find points of interest near you. We do not track your movements, build location history, or share your coordinates with third parties. Coordinates sent to our server are not linked to any personal identity.
When a nearby place is detected, a short description is generated by a third-party AI service (Groq / Anthropic Claude). The request sent to the AI includes:

The app uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to collect anonymous usage statistics and crash reports. This helps us improve the app. Data collected includes:

The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to receive optional push notifications. No personal data is sent through this channel.
Place data is sourced from OpenStreetMap. Our server queries the OpenStreetMap Overpass API on your behalf using your approximate location to find nearby places of interest. OpenStreetMap's privacy policy applies: osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
The app stores the following data locally on your device only:
None of this data is uploaded to external servers.
The app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available at this URL.
