Waypoint ("the App", "we", "us") helps refugees, migrants, and anyone navigating an unfamiliar country build a step-by-step plan. This policy explains what information the App collects, why, and how it is used.
Waypoint does not ask for your name, email address, or a password. When you first open the App, it creates an anonymous session identified by a randomly generated access token stored on your device. We cannot identify you personally from this token.
Your situation. When you describe your situation, country, citizenship, and (if provided) family members, this information is stored so the App can build and update your plan. It is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude API), to generate your step-by-step plan, step details, and letter drafts. It may also be used to run web searches via Tavily to find current addresses, opening hours, and document requirements relevant to your case.
Location. With your permission, the App uses your device's GPS to detect the country you are in, so you don't have to type it manually. This lookup happens on your device; only the resulting country name is sent to our servers — your precise coordinates are never transmitted or stored.
Document photos. If you choose to photograph a document (such as a passport or visa) to speed up your plan, the photo is uploaded and stored securely so relevant details can be used to personalize your plan and letters. Photos and any data extracted from them are processed by our AI provider (Anthropic) as part of generating your plan and letters.
Conversation and letters. Messages exchanged while continuing your case, and any letters the App drafts on your behalf, are stored so you can return to them later, and are processed by our AI provider to generate accurate, relevant content.
Language preference. The language you choose for the App's interface is stored so it's remembered on your next visit.
Subscription status. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment partner RevenueCat shares your subscription status and an anonymous app-generated identifier with us. RevenueCat does not receive your situation, documents, or any other content described above.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Your case data is retained for as long as your case remains active, so the App can continue to help you. You can start over at any time from within the App, which deletes your local session and associated case on our servers.
Waypoint is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
We take reasonable technical measures to protect the information you share with us, including encrypted connections between the App and our servers.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
